Republican women playwrights start to reappear slowly through academic editions and researches in the last years. However, when we observe the Spanish scene we find an important vacuum regarding the performances of their plays. In this paper, we analyze the performances made by four republican women playwrights: Halma Angélico, María Teresa León, Carlota O'Neill and María Zambrano. The aim is to find the answer to this unjustified absence from the Spanish scene. At the same time, we try to analyze the criteria of the plays choice, regarding aesthetics and plot to give a reason of the absence of these playwrights in the Spanish theaters.
