Résumé :

Radical times call for radical answers. Multi and interdisciplinary approaches are mandatory, when dealing with present day complexity. Deep entrenched value systems sustain legal and normative systems that are a carcase and a dead weight from the past. The fast changes have the consequence of creating obsolescence. The call of the present Symposium is an appeal for contributions from a wide spectrum of disciplines that may enter into a dialogue within the setting of international law. Development studies, political science, corporate social responsibility, transnational corporations and institutional economics are among relevant areas to be explored as a way through the complexity of contemporary societies. The regional systems of Human Rights, from across the planet, are rich environments that may illustrate the contradictions and paradoxes of current times, which are mirrored into the legal systems. The challenges of political participation, citizen participation and social change, present across the globe, related to civic movements and to grass-root initiatives, are the backbone of a tsunami of novelty and creativity that are changing the way reality has been conceptualised. The future and the promotion of the Human Rights depend upon acknowledging, legitimising and learning from such deep experiences.
